In 1944, as the result of a coinage reform, this ten rials was introduced and struck in silver until 1947. It was replaced by a copper-nickel ten rials (KM 1177). The second specimen was lot 3021 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $53.55. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN: Mohammad Reza Shah, 1941-1979, AR 10 rials, SH1323, a lovely lightly toned example! NGC graded MS65."
Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.
Specification: 16 g, 0.600 fine silver, .308 troy oz ASW, 32 mm diameter.
