Iran SH1312 5 rials
The first specimen was lot 22586 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $258.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. 5 Rial, SH 1312/0 (1933). NGC MS-66. Population of one with none finer at NGC and PCGS. So far, the nicest graded example known for the date. Blazing white luster with immaculate satin textured fields. For collectors who only want the best, this is the coin for you." The second specimen was part of lot 23136 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), which sold for $282. The catalog description[1] noted, "MIXED LOTS. Three Certified World Coins, 1933-45. NGC MS-63. A very desirable small lot of high grade 20th century coins, beginning with a 5 Rials from Iran dated SH 1312 (1933) that is full white and GEM BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED in an MS-65 holder.... Approximate retail value of $450. Inspection advised." This silver five rials was introduced 1931-34 and replaced an earlier 5000 dinars (KM 1106). It is not rare but seldom seen in nice condition. For the next issue of this denomination, in 1943 (KM 1145), the weight was reduced to 8 grams.
