This specimen was lot 47705 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. Safavid Dynasty. 1/4 Mithqal, AH 966 (1558/9). Qazwin Mint. Tahmasp I. NGC MS-64. From the Genden Collection." This type is listed in Numista for the Yazd mint dated AH 966-972 and 981. The ashrafi (3.5 g) superseded the mithqal during the reign of shah Abbas (1587-1629).
