Iran AH 1303 toman
This specimen was lot 1026 in Sincona sale 85 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 2,200 CHF (about US$2,963 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"IRAN, Nasir al-Din Shah, 1264-1313 AH (1848-1896). 1 Toman 1303 AH (1886 AD), Tehran Mint. Bust type. Very rare in this condition. NGC MS63* PL. Magnificent condition. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 28. From the Mortimer Hammel collection, auction Stacks, New York, 1982. Finest certified by NGC."
With the coming of the milled coinage, all of the branch mints were closed and all production was completed in Tehran. One thousand dinars made a kran and ten kran made a toman. The SCWC lists this for AH 1297-1313.
