Stephen Album sale 50, lot 2290

This specimen was lot 2290 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "AFSHARID: Shahrukh, 1748-1750, AR double rupi, Mashhad, AH1162, bold strike, VF-XF." Shahrokh survived the immediate turmoil after Nader's assassination and sat on the throne three times, AH 1161-63, AH 1163-66 and AH 1168-1210. He was finally murdered in 1796 after the Qajar takeover. This issue, called type C in the SCWC, was struck AH 1161-1163.
