This specimen was issued by India as part of the F.A.O. series. The Indian government became an enthusiastic supporter of the F.A.O. program and issued many F.A.O. coins in the decade following. This specimen is from the Bombay mint and promotes rural electrification. An aluminum five paise (KM 19) was also issued with this theme.
Recorded mintage: 49,000 plus 3,400 proofs.
Specification: copper-nickel, 39 mm diameter.
