This specimen was lot 2821 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $108. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA: Republic, 1 rupee, 1975-B, lightly toned, NGC graded Proof 67 UC." This type was struck 1975-82 at Bombay and Calcutta. Numerous varieties exist. Another rupee struck in 1975 honored the 15th anniversary of the Integrated Child Development Services (KM 86). In 1982, US$1 = 9.3 rupees; today (July 2022), one US dollar = 79 rupees.
Recorded mintage: 98,850,000 ("♦" mintmark) for circulation plus proofs ("B" mintmark).
