This specimen was lot 56579 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 2 Anna, 1923-(B). Bombay Mint. George V. PCGS MS-62." The two annas, originally a silver coin (KM 515), was switched to copper-nickel in 1918 and struck to this design until 1936. Similar two annas were struck for George VI until 1947. The administration also attempted to circulate copper-nickel four and eight annas but failed. The Calcutta mint also minted this type.
Recorded mintage: 6,431,000 plus proofs and restrikes, a common date.
