This specimen was lot 24510 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $998.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "George V Restrike Proof Rupee 1922(B), PL65 NGC, nicely toned with purple and gold flashes in the legends on the obverse." This rupee was struck at the Bombay mint after World War One. Wartime issues at Bombay (dot on reverse) and Calcutta (no dot) were large but dwindled and ceased after 1922, not to resume until 1938.
Recorded mintage: 2,051,000 plus proofs.
Specification: 11.66 g, 0.917 fine silver, .343 troy oz ASW.
