The princely state of Hyderabad was one of the last absorbed into the Republic of India in 1948. It was also the largest state and residence of the last remnant of Mughal suzerainty in central India. This square 1 anna was issued AH 1361-1368. A similar coin was struck AH 1356-1361 in copper-nickel.
