Hyderabad AH 1323(40) rupee
This specimen was lot 1248 in Goldberg Sale 139 (Los Angeles, June 2024), where it sold for $108. The catalog description[1] noted, "Indian States: Hyderabad. Silver Rupee AH1328 Year 40. Unlisted date combination. Mir Mahbub Ali Khan II. AH1285-1329/1869-1911AD. Extremely Fine. Ex Baldwin's Auction 43, Oct 11, 2005, lot 2941. The Peh Collection Part II." The princely state of Hyderabad was one of the last absorbed into the Republic of India in 1948. It was also the largest state and residence of the last remnant of Mughal suzerainty in central India. This type was issued under Mir Mahbub Ali Khan years 35 thru 41. The reason the auctioneers thought this was an "AH1328 Year 40" was because they misread the date (it reads, "١٣٢٣", not "١٣٢٨").
Recorded mintage: unknown but a better date.
Specification: 11.17 g, 0.818 fine silver, 30 mm diameter.
