This specimen was lot 682 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "HYDERABAD: Mir Usman Ali Khan, 1911-1948, AV 1/4 ashrafi, Farkhanda Bunyad Hyderabad, AH1345 year 16, a fantastic lustrous mint state example! NGC graded MS66. Tied for finest graded at NGC and none higher at PCGS." The Indian princely state of Hyderabad was one of the few large enough and wealthy enough to mint an extensive series of gold coins. This type, struck for Mir Usman Ali Khan (AH 1329-1367 or 1911-48 A.D.), is listed for 1918, 1923-24, 1930, 1934-5, 1938, 1941 and 1948.
