This specimen was lot 72533 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Hyderabad. Rupee, AH 1313 Year 29 (1897). Hyderabad Mint. Mir Mahbub Ali Khan II (under Victoria as Empress). NGC MS-62. A wholesome Mint State specimen, this piece yields a rich luster and strong details, with no signs of excess handling or marking." This type, the first milled rupee for the state, was issued AH 1312-1318 (1894-1900) for Mir Mahbub Ali Khan II, ruler 1869-1911. It is accompanied by a four annas, eight annas and a gold ashrafi.
