Hupeh (1902-05) 10 cash Y-122a
Hupeh Province is located in east-central China. The mint was active from the early Manchu dynasty, and adapted for modern coin mintage in 1895. Altho the regime decreed the striking of one, five, ten and twenty cash in copper, the vast majority produced were ten cash. This specimen was lot 55182 in Stack's Bowers Hong Kong auction (Hong Kong, April 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. Hupeh. 10 Cash, ND (1902-05). PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, AU Details Gold Shield. A sharply detailed coin with light wear and mottled patina and a few patches of accumulated material in the protected areas." On this variety, the dragon is surrounded by a circle of beads.
