Künker Auction 425, lot 1405

This specimen was lot 1405 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €3,200 (about US$4,531 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. Dukat 1747 KB, Kremnitz. GOLD. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Holy Roman Empire, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, ducat of 1747, Kremnitz mint. Extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was struck in substantial numbers 1746-65 and is priced as a bullion coin in circulated condition. We can't explain the extraordinary price realized for this example; others we have posted of this type did not bring as much.

Recorded mintage: 150,000.
