This specimen was lot 3256 in Sincona sale 23 (Zürich, May 2015), where it sold for 1,500 CHF (about US$1,884 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"UNGARN, Leopold I. 1657-1705 Taler 1682. Kremnitz. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (kingdom of Hungary, Leopold I (1657-1705), thaler of 1682, Kremnitz mint, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type of 1681-82 is slightly scarce. In 1683, the last Ottoman attempt to take Vienna failed. The war that followed was a complete victory for Austria, which annexed Hungary and Transylvania.
