Stack's Bowers September 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 75187

This specimen was lot 75187 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "HUNGARY. Taler, 1633-KB. Kremnica Mint. Ferdinand II. NGC ALMOST UNCIRCULATED-55. A well-struck example of this type with pleasing argent toning and slight wear. Attractive." Hungary in 1633 was partitioned between the Austrians and the Turks and was not part of the Empire. This type was struck 1620-23, 1630-37.

Recorded mintage: 80,000.
