This specimen was lot 3695 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 2,000 CHF (about US$2,387 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Ferdinand I. 1521-1564 Dukat 1542 KB. Kremnitz. FDC. Prachtexemplar. (Kingdom of Hungary, Ferdinand I, 1521-64, ducat of 1542, Kremnitz mint. Uncirculated, Most attractive piece.)"
This type was issued in the first years of Hapsburg rule, when most of Hungary was under Turkish domination. Friedberg lists this type for 1527-65 from Kremnitz (shown here), Neustadt (Fr-49) and Hermannstadt (Fr-50).
