Hungary (1501-02)-KH goldgulden Fr-32
This specimen was lot 3712 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €6,500 (about US$8,529 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"UNGARN, Wladislaus II. 1490-1516. Goldgulden o. J. (1501/1502), Kremnitz. Kammergraf Hans Thurzó. GOLD. RR Fast vorzüglich. (kingdom of Hungary, Ladislaus II, 1490-1516, undated goldgulden, circa 1501-02, Kremnitz mint. Very rare, about extremely fine.)"
The Ladislaus depicted holding a halberd is not the king but his distant ancestor, St. Ladislaus, king of Hungary 1077-95 and made a saint in 1192. The Madonna and Child adorn the obverse, with the Polish eagle below. Dates were added to goldgulden in 1503.
