This specimen was lot 4074 in Goldberg sale 41 (Beverly Hills, May 2007), where it sold for $4,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "Hungary. Goldgulden, ND. Karl Robert, 1307-1342. Florentine Lily. Leg: Cross. Karo -LU-REX. Reverse: St. John. Leg. Cross. S. IOHA - NNES.B. Crown. A distinctly uncommon coin. Boldly struck and well center. NGC graded AU-55. This is one of the earliest Goldguldens stuck, and the first collectible gold coin of Hungary. Modelled after the Florentine type, the legend defines it as Hungarian origin. A seldom offered type." Later types (Fr-3 thru Fr-12) are much more common.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.54 grams, 22.8 mm diameter.
