This specimen was lot 787 in Stephen Album sale 32 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "HONG KONG: Elizabeth II, 1952-1997, 2 dollars, 1979, PCGS graded Specimen 65, ex King's Norton Mint Collection." This type was struck 1975-84 and is common in all grades. It was the first issue of the denomination and must have filled a need, as two dollar coins were issued until the end of the colonial regime.
Recorded mintage: 9,032,000.
