This specimen was lot 24238 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $12,925. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria 50 Cents 1890, MS62 NGC, sharply detailed, old-time colorful toning, untouched original surfaces, seldom found so fine." This type was struck at the London mint 1890-94 (shown here) and at Heaton 1891-92. This specimen sold for 21 times the catalog value.

Recorded mintage: 50,000.
