This specimen was lot 72656 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "HONDURAS. Lempira, 2000. Mexican (Potosi) Mint. CHOICE PROOF. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Central Bank, this stunner provides intense frosting upon the devices and great mirroring in the fields." This design was also used on KM 89, a one ounce silver NCLT. This self-congratulatory coin commemorating an anniversary of utter insignificance to outsiders is one of a large class beloved of banking officials.
