Honduras 1882 peso
The first specimen was lot 9580 in Ponterio sale 151 (Baltimore, November 2009), where it sold for $161. The catalog description[1] noted, "HONDURAS. Peso, 1882. Coin axis. A few light scratches, lustrous EXTREMELY FINE-ALMOST UNCIRCULATED." The second specimen was lot 4774 in Goldberg sale 65 (Los Angeles, September 2011), where it sold for $546.25. The catalog description[2] noted, "Honduras. Peso, 1882. Medal Rotation. Standing Liberty. Lightly toned. NGC graded AU-55." This type was issued in Honduras 1881-83 and usually comes poorly struck. It is much scarcer than the later KM 52, issued 1883-99.
