Honan Province in the south east of China began coin production in 1647. A mint for struck coinage began operation in 1905.

The specimen shown was lot 60163 in Ponterio sale 162 (Hong Kong, August 2011), where it sold for $13,145. The catalog description[1] noted, “CHINA. Honan. 50 Cash, CD (1931). 民國二十年河南省造五十文。NGC MS-63 BN. Ex: The Frank Robinson Collection.”
