Sincona sale 69, lot 870

This specimen was lot 870 in Sincona sale 69 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 3,750 CHF (about US$4,977 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"THE NETHERLANDS | Province of Holland. 2 Dukaten 1777. Selten. Fast FDC. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (Netherlands, province of Holland, double ducat of 1777. Rare, About uncirculated, Magnificent condition.)"

This type was struck 1749-93 with a reeded edge. It is much scarcer than the single ducat.

Specification: 6.98 g, 0.986 fine gold, reeded edge, this specimen 6.95 g.
