Künker sale 294, lot 3660

This specimen was lot 3660 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €2,600 (about US$3,504 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOHENLOHE, HOHENLOHE-SCHILLINGSFÜRST, GRAFSCHAFT, SEIT 1744 FÜRSTENTUM, Philipp Ernst, 1697-1750. 2 Dukaten 1744, Nürnberg, auf die Erhebung des Grafen und seiner Vettern Carl Philipp, Joseph Anton und Ferdinand von Bartenstein in den Reichsfürstenstand. GOLD. Attraktives Exemplar mit feiner Goldpatina, kl. Henkelspur, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, principality of Hohenlohe-Schillingsfurst, Philip Ernest, 1697-1750, double ducat of 1744, Nuremberg mint, on the promotion of the count and his cousins to the rank of prince. Attractive example with fine gold patina, small mount mark, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This rare type is accompanied by an even rarer triple ducat (Fr-1341). Neither are listed in the SCWC.
