This specimen was lot 650 in Ponterio sale 182 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $3,290. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Hohenlohe-Neuenstein-Oehringen. Ducat, 1699. NGC AU-55. Johann Friedrich I (1676-1702)." This is the only ducat noted for this insignificant locality in the seventeenth century. As one might surmise, it is rare. The dies were also used to strike quarter thalers (KM 18).
