Hejaz AH 1334(6) piastre
This specimen was lot 1183 in Stephen Album sale 47 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "HEJAZ: al-Husayn b. 'Ali, 1916-1924, AE qirsh, Makka al-Mukarrama (Mecca), AH1334 year 5/6, scarce overdate, bold strike, environmental damage, NGC graded AU details, S." This type was struck years 5 and 6 only. The kingdom of Hejaz was an outshoot of the Arab Revolt of World War One. It was invaded and conquered by Saudi Arabia in 1925-26. The auctioneers call this coin a "qirsh", which is likely what the locals called it, but it is catalogued in the SCWC as a piastre. The SCWC notes that all the issues of year 6 are the overdate.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: bronze, 21-22 diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-24.
