This specimen was lot 74709 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Hanau-Lichtenberg. 3 Kreuzer, 1598. NGC MS-61. A wonderfully well-preserved coin with bright silver surfaces complemented by golden-orange toning on the outer devices." This type was struck 1587-88, 1595-99. The three kreuzer was 1/24 of a thaler. We have filed it under Hesse-Darmstadt as that state absorbed the county on the extinction of the ruling family in 1785.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: KM-MB3.
