This specimen was lot 1538 in Jean Elsen sale 163 (Brussels, November 2025), where it sold for €675 (about US$780 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, HAMBOURG, Ville libre, AV 20 Mark, 1893 J. (Germany, city of Hamburg, gold twenty mark of 1893. Very Fine.)"
This was the introductory year for this type, which was struck 1893-1900, 1908 and 1913. The reverse was modified from the prior Fr-3776. This is a common date and realized less than the bullion value.
Recorded mintage: 815,000.
