This specimen was lot 24706 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Hamburg. Free City gold Ducat 1739-IHL, MS63 PCGS, prooflike surfaces with full mint brilliance, very light wave to the flan." This type was struck 1713-40 in small numbers. Hamburg did not give up minting ducats until 1872, amid the coinage reform resulting from unification.
