This specimen was lot 4001 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €3,800 (about US$4,986 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HAMBURG, STADT, Dukat 1644. Münzmeister Matthias Freude. GOLD. Kl. Stempelfehler, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (city of Hamburg, ducat of 1644. Small planchet defects, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This type was minted more or less uninterruptedly from 1497 to 1667. It is still scarce despite nearly two centuries of production.
