This specimen was lot 852 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "HAMBURG: Free City, AR thaler, 1624, beautiful deep toning, variety with full date, PCGS graded AU55." This type was struck 1620-37 followed by a very similar type struck in the name of Ferdinand II, 1637-53. It is technically a 32 schilling piece but is universally classed as a thaler. The city of Hamburg issued coins almost continuously until the end of World War One and the mint there is still in operation, striking coins for the Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
