Künker sale 264, lot 3679

This specimen was lot 3679 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €2,000 (about US$2,584 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"STADT Goldgulden 1553, mit Titel Karls V. GOLD. RR Sehr schön. (Germany, city of Hamburg, gold gulden of 1553, in the name of Charles V, rare, very fine.)"

A gold gulden issued in the name of Ferdinand I is also noted for 1553.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW; this specimen is 3,20 g.
