Künker sale 264, lot 3688

This specimen was lot 3688 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €3,800 (about US$4,909 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"STADT 2 Dukaten o. J. (1692-1705), mit Titel Leopolds I. GOLD. R Vorzügliches Exemplar mit feiner Goldtönung. (Germany, city of Hamburg, undated double ducat, in the name of Leopold I. Scarce, extremely fine with nice gold color.)"

This type is also shown with a earlier mintmaster HL, active 1672-92.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.

Specification: 7 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 6,91 g.
