Künker sale 293, lot 827

This specimen was lot 827 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €650 (about US$876 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HALBERSTADT, BISTUM, Domkapitel. 1/2 Reichstaler 1629. Mit Arabesken in der rechten Wappenhälfte. R Sehr schön. (bishopric of Halberstadt, issued by the cathedral chapter, half thaler of 1629, with arabesques in the dexter arms. Scarce, very fine.)"

This type of 1628-29 is noted as the most available half thaler of this bishopric, which was annexed to Brandenburg in 1648. This specimen realized quadruple the catalog value.
