This specimen was lot 1601 in Stephen Album sale 32 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2018), where it sold for $235. The catalog description[1] noted, "HAITI: Republic, AE 2 centimes, 1889, pretender issue of General Légitime, President; pattern in copper by Oscar Roty, NGC graded MS65 RB. General François Denys Légitime was a Haitian general who served as President of Haiti from 1888 to 1889, but resigned in 22 August 1889, owing to the opposition of General Florvil Hyppolite, and retired to Jamaica." This handsome pattern was accompanied by a one centime (KM Pn85). A copper-nickel five centimes is the only regular issue for 1889.
