This specimen was lot 30911 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $5,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "Haiti: Revolutionary Government. Toussaint L'Ouverture 2 Escalin ND (1802) AU50 NGC. A very scarce revolutionary issue, struck during the revolt against French authority in Haiti. At present no representatives have been seen by either PCGS or NGC in Mint State, confirming the utter scarcity of higher-grade examples. Steel and silver toned, with a single small mark noted to the left of Liberty." This issue was accompanied by half (KM 21) and single escalins (KM 22). The chaos of the early years of Haitian independence left little time for coinage; this combined with the chronic shortage of coinage in the Caribbean to make these early issues rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: KM 23.
