SB622-71535r.jpg

This specimen was lot 71535 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Gwalior. Rupee, ND (1759-1806). Sabalgarh Mint. In the name of Shah Alam II. NGC AU-58. Fairly well struck on a somewhat compact planchet, which is the reason why the RY date isn't entirely visible. Very lightly handled and pleasantly toned." The SCWC lists Lashkar mint (KM 119) and Chanderi mint (KM 47) for rupees but not Sabalgarh.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: cf. Album 25, 1058.
