This specimen was lot 75524 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $195.20. The catalog description[1] noted, "GUATEMALA. Mint Error -- Defective Planchet -- Quetzal, 1999. Guatemala City Mint. PCGS MS-66." This type was struck 1999-2001, 2006, 2008 and 2011-12. It replaced a note. The alloy was changed to brass plated steel (KM 284a) and struck in that form 2013-23.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 11 g, nickel brass (70% Cu-28% Zn-2% Ni), 29 mm diameter.
