Steve Album sale 54, lot 3171

This specimen was lot 3171 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $110. The catalog description[1] noted, "GUATEMALA: Republic, AR quetzal, 1997, Ibero-American Series-Santiago Atitlan Solola-Baile del Son, estimated mintage of only 6,000 pieces, scarce, PCGS graded Proof 68 DCAM." This was struck in Madrid depicting two dancers in front of lake Atitlán. It is from the third series of Ibero-American NCLT's, titled "Dances and customs". It is from the third series of Ibero-American NCLT's, titled "Dances and customs". The collecting community had lost interest by the time this series was sold and today it sells for its bullion value.

Recorded mintage: 6,000.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.925 fine silver, 40 mm diameter, reeded edge.
