This specimen was lot 57024 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "GUATEMALA. 1/4 Quetzal, 1949/8. NGC MS-64. Overdate variety." The specimen shown is from a type struck for Guatemala 1926-29 and 1946-49. It was superseded by twenty-five centavo pieces with the portrait of a Mayan woman in native costume (KM 258). The SCWC gives the overdate a lower catalog value than the regular date.

Recorded mintage: 25,000.

Specification: 8.33 g, 0.720 fine silver, 27 mm diameter (same module as a Mexico 1945-M 50 centavos).
