This specimen was lot 3065 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $920. The catalog description[1] noted, "1926 20 quetzales. MS-62 (NGC). Quetzal on pillar, legends around/arms in wreath, legends around, date below. Lustrous medium gold, small reverse toning spot at 4:00 in the wreath. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942." This type, along with the gold five and ten quetzales, was struck the one year only.
Recorded mintage: 49,000.
Specification: 33.43 g, 0.900 fine gold, .967 troy oz AGW; this specimen: 33.48 grams, 34.10 mm diameter.
