This type was struck for Guatemala during an inflationary period in the early twenties. By the time the peso was abandoned in 1925 in favor of the new quetzal, one US dollar was sixty pesos. The regime managed to keep the quetzal pegged to the dollar until the 1980's. This type, accompanied by a five pesos, is not rare but is never found in nice condition. Wikipedia comments, "Miguel García Granados y Zavala (1809-78) was a Spanish-born Guatemalan politician and military general who served as President of Guatemala from 1871 to 1873."
