This specimen was lot 33625 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $616.88. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Peso 1894 MS66 PCGS. A pristine example with blast white color and full original luster." This type was minted in Guatemala in large numbers 1894-97 with help from the Heaton mint in Birmingham, England. It is the last in a series of seated liberty designs beginning in 1872. They were struck to displace the Chilean pesos and Peruvian soles counterstamped in 1894.
