This specimen was lot 75364 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $109. The catalog description[1] noted, "GUATEMALA. 1/2 Real, 1768-G. Guatemala Mint. Charles III. PCGS Genuine--Plugged, VF Details. From the Richard August Collection." Unlike the larger denominations, the half real lacks an assayer initial. Harris[2] notes that Guatemala half reales of Charles III are rare, with one ninth as many as Mexico City and most of those were likely holed.
