The example shown is a 1766 8 reales from the Guatemala mint. Gilboy[1] lists two major varieties for this date, the example here does not have lower curves visible on the small pillar crowns. It is rated by Gilboy[1] as being very rare. While Guatemala pillar dollars are scarce compared to the issues of Mexico City or Potosi, they are available for a price. The four and eight reales from this mint are more common than the smaller denominations.
