Stack's Bowers November 2022 Collectors Choice sale, lot 75139

This specimen was lot 75139 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREECE. 20 Drachmai, 1965. Paul I. PCGS PROOF-69 Deep Cameo. A truly flawless Proof with extraordinary mint brilliance. This coin has captivating cameo features and tremendous eye appeal. Paul died in 1964, so this coin was issued posthumously by his son, the new king, Constantine II." This type was originally issued for circulation in 1960. It was reissued in 1965 after the king's death and was hoarded, as circulated specimens are unknown.

Recorded mintage: unknown plus 4,987 proofs.

Specification: 7.50 g, 0.835 fine silver, 26.2 mm diameter.
