This specimen was lot 40594 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $3,525. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREECE. 5 Drachmai, 1875-A. PCGS MS-63 Secure Holder. Beautifully toned." This two-year type was struck in Paris 1875-76 for king George I (1863-1913) to the standard of a French five francs. Greece, poor, backward, corrupt and riven by feuds, could ill afford a substantial silver coinage and this is the only issue that is reasonably available. Proofs are reported to exist.

Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, .7234 troy oz AGW, 37 mm diameter.
